HEALTHY HABITS, HOLISTIC HAPPINESS: NBSC KICKS OFF HEALTH AND WELLNESS PROGRAM 2026
Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) launched its 2026 Health and Wellness Program on February 18, 2026, at the NBSC Covered Court. This initiative is anchored on CSC Resolution No. 1901265, Memorandum Circular No. 4, s. 2020, and Republic Act No. 11036, also known as the Mental Health Act of 2018. The successful conduct of last year’s Health and Wellness Program paved the way for its continued implementation.
Serving as emcees, Ralph A. Bagotsay from the Public Affairs and Information Office (PAIO) and Blissie Marie C. Pañales from the Income Generation Program Office (IGPO) welcomed NBSC faculty and staff, expressing gratitude for their presence and the time taken to participate in the event.
Dr. Jovelyn G. Delosa, Vice-President for Academic Affairs, provided the opening remarks by emphasizing the importance of mindful self-care. She observed that in the pursuit of institutional goals, the person individuals most frequently overlook is themselves.
Karl Clyde Stephen C. Acosta, RN, Head of the Health Services Office (HSO) and Chairperson of the Health and Wellness Committee, followed with a breakdown of the program’s trajectory. He discussed how the initiative aims to balance physical endurance and mental flexibility while fostering coordination through social interaction. Mr. Acosta also shared findings based on various forms previously answered by employees; these results provided a broader look at the workforce’s health profile and identified Brisk Walking, Zumba, and Badminton as the top three preferences for the year.
The transition into the active phase of the program saw the division of personnel into six color-coded teams: red, blue, green, yellow, purple, and pink. Once grouped, the employees were tasked with selecting their respective team leaders and creating team names that incorporated their assigned colors. This led to the official naming of the Red Stallions, Blue Marlins, Green Gators, Yellow Bumblebees, Purple Dinos, and Pink Panthers.
After a formal pledge of commitment led by Grace P. Quiblat, MAEd, Head of the Sports and Athletics Office and Co-chairperson of the Health and Wellness Committee, the group participated in a high-energy Zumba session.
In her closing statement, Ms. Quiblat urged those present to maintain this drive in their daily lives, noting that every small, consistent effort counts toward a healthier lifestyle. The day concluded with a ceremonial toss facilitated by Benzar Glen S. Grepon, MIT, Supervising Administrative Officer.
The integration of such practices into the institutional fabric suggests a move toward a more sustainable professional landscape for NBSC. This shift encourages an environment where the entire workforce can approach their roles with a steadier sense of balance and mutual support. By grounding the college’s culture in these wellness habits, the NBSC community becomes more revitalized and better prepared to meet the evolving challenges of the future.
